Safeguarding

Bourne End and Wooburn Green Medical Centre is committed to safeguarding the welfare of all children, young people, and adults who may be at risk. We believe that everyone has the right to live free from abuse, neglect, exploitation, and harm, regardless of their age, disability, gender, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, or circumstances.

All members of our team have a responsibility to recognise safeguarding concerns and respond appropriately. We work closely with local safeguarding partners and follow national and local safeguarding guidance to help protect those who may be at risk.

Confidentiality and information sharing

We understand the importance of patient confidentiality. However, there may be occasions where we have a legal or professional duty to share relevant information with other organisations, such as social care, the police, or other healthcare professionals, if we believe that a child or adult is at risk of significant harm or if sharing information is necessary to protect someone's safety. Wherever possible, we will discuss this with you first, unless doing so would increase the risk of harm or is not appropriate.

If you are worried about yourself or someone else

Abuse, neglect, domestic abuse, coercive control, exploitation, and bullying can affect anyone. If you are worried about your own safety or the safety of a child or adult, please speak to a member of our practice team. We will listen to your concerns sensitively and ensure they are managed appropriately.

If you believe someone is in immediate danger, call 999 immediately.

For non-emergency concerns, you can also seek advice from your Buckinghamshire Safeguarding team or speak to a healthcare professional.

Helpful information

If you have any safeguarding concerns, please contact the practice. We are here to help and will ensure your concerns are taken seriously and managed in line with national safeguarding guidance and our safeguarding policies.
